Rodrigo Zamith

Rodrigo Zamith is a media scholar whose research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of journalism and technology, with a focus on the reconfiguration of journalism in a changing media environment and the development of digital research methods for social scientists.

Zamith's research has been published in leading peer-reviewed outlets like New Media & Society, the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Digital Journalism, The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, and The Oxford Encyclopedia of Journalism Studies.

He is a recipient of the Nafziger-White-Salwen Dissertation Award, which recognizes the best dissertation published in the discipline of mass communication, and a finalist for the Gene Burd Dissertation Award and Digital Journalism's Article of the Year award.

Zamith is a former Lilly Teaching Fellow, recipient of UMass' College Outstanding Teaching Award, and finalist for the University's Distinguished Teaching Award. He is a Faculty Associate of UMass' Computational Social Science Institute and a Faculty Affiliate of its Department of Communication.

Before joining the faculty at UMass, Zamith received both a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Minnesota, as well as a M.S. in Mass Communication from Florida International University. He is also an avid soccer fan, aspiring tennis player, serviceable Overwatch tank, and open-source nerd.
