MTEL Information

All candidates for educator licensure in Massachusetts must pass the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL). If you are seeking licensure in a state other than Massachusetts, please contact the Educator Preparation office at EdPrep-help [at] umass [dot] edu or (413) 545-0236, for more information. All candidates are required to pass a Communication and Literacy test and for this test there are various options, in addition to other subject or grade level tests.  Please consult your Program Coordinators for more information about your subject tests.  Access to your state’s licensing agency is available on the Teacher Licensure Agency Directory.
