Academics
The Department of Nutrition offers an array of courses for majors and non-majors, online and in the classroom.
- Undergraduate students who choose the Nutrition major receive personalized advising and small class instruction. Students in the dietetics option take the coursework in preparation for becoming a Registered Dietitian.
- Graduate students may enroll in the M.S. degree with nutrition science or community nutrition options, the M.P.H. degree in Nutrition (either on campus or online), or the Ph.D. degree in Public Health - Nutrition option.
- The Department also offers the postgraduate Dietetic Internship, an 11-month practicum training leading to registration as a dietitian.
- Professional development credit and non-credit courses are offered through UMassONE.
Graduates from the Department’s programs hold diverse positions, providing nutrition education, research and assessment, as well as treatment in hospitals, clinics, businesses, community service programs, government agencies and universities throughout the world.
