Public Health alumna Petti, MPH ’12, named “30 Under 30” by the Society for Public Health Education

November 13, 2014

Public Health alumna Mary Ann Petti, MPH ’12, recently received a Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) “30 Under 30” award as part of its 2014 National Health Education Week campaign. Held this year from October 20-24, 2014, National Health Education Week focuses national attention on a major public health issue and promotes consumers’ understanding of the role of health education in promoting the public’s health.

Petti and other “30 Under 30” winners were recognized for their contributions to promoting and improving population health and providing health education services for cost-effective prevention, wellness, and disease management.

“I am honored to receive this award with all of these amazing professionals,” says Petti. “I think I was chosen for my work as a connector and a leader in public health and technology. I am committed to cross-sector collaboration to solve our toughest public health problems — whether it’s speaking at health conferences about how to apply best practices in technology and innovation to health education, or speaking at technology conferences about using health education best practices to make digital health tools better.”

Petti (profiled by the SPHHS here) currently works as a User Experience Specialist at CommunicateHealth, a Northampton-based health education and communication firm specializing in improving health literacy through user-centered design, policy, research, and content development.

As part of SOPHE's National Health Education Week campaign, she was asked to create a 30-second video sharing how she plans to impact the future of health education. You can watch it below.
