Academics

The Department of Kinesiology offers programs of study leading to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Master of Science (M.S.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Kinesiology. The degree programs in Kinesiology prepare a candidate to study and apply kinesiology from a multidisciplinary approach. Applications are in the biomedical, health, and fitness-related fields in public and private industries.

There are three programs of graduate study: Motor Systems, Physical Activity & Health, and Physiology. The M.S. (including thesis and research project option candidates) and Ph.D. degree programs of study and research are planned on an individual basis between students and their academic advisors. Courses are taken within the department and are complemented by courses in other fields, such as biochemistry, biology, computer science, engineering, epidemiology, neuroscience, and nutrition.
