The Joint BIO/EPI Seminar Series
Date:Apr 12 2013From:01:00pm to 02:00pmLocation:Campus Center, Room 101
Harvard School of Public Health Assistant Professor of Epidemiology, Rulla Tamimi, ScD, MS, will give a talk entitled "Molecular and genetic predictors of mammographic density: Insights into the pathogenesis of breast cancer."
Mammographic density is one of the strongest risk factors for breast cancer. The biologic mechanisms by which mammographic density increases breast cancer risk are unclear. To better understand potential mechanisms, we examined the association between circulating biomarkers, mammographic density, and breast cancer risk in the Nurses’ Health Study. In addition, mammographic density is highly heritable. I will also present results from the Markers of Density (MODE) consortium examining genetic variation in relation to mammographic density.
All seminars are open to the public.
Refreshments will be served.
