This online graduate degree is highly regarded for its interdisciplinary, hands-on approach incorporating Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Both online and field-based, the program integrates cutting-edge teaching methodologies that build critical thinking skills with inquiry-based science and science education content. The curriculum is based on a collaboration between UMass Amherst’s College of Education and College of Natural Sciences.

We offer either a Master of Education (MEd) or an Education Specialist (EdS) degree. Successful completion of this program fulfills the requirements for professional licensure for elementary teachers in Massachusetts and may fulfill requirements for other states.
