Prior to coming to UMass, Aaron Tillman was an Associate Professor of English and Director of the Honors Program at Newbury College, which closed this past May. While at Newbury, he was one of three faculty members who redesigned their Composition sequence to better serve writers of varying experiences and abilities. For this initiative, Newbury received a grant from the Davis Educational Foundation. Along with his pedagogical work, Tillman is a fiction writer with research interests in U.S. ethnic literature, magical realism, humor studies, and film studies. His publications include: the short story collection Every Single Bone in my Brain: Stories (2017 Braddock Avenue Books) and Magical American Jew: the Enigma of Difference in Contemporary Jewish American Short Fiction and Film (2017 Lexington Books).  Tillman is currently teaching College Writing, our first-year writing course, and serving on the program’s curriculum committee.
