Hui Gao

My name is Hui Gao. I have been working at Physical Plant, UMass since 1995. I came to the United States from China in 1993 and am now a US citizen. My hometown is Xi'an, Shaanxi, China. I used to teach in high school and also worked in the university for over 20 years. My major was Chinese literature. I am interested in poetry writing. I published some poetry and won an award. My hobby is photography. Over the past 10 years, I have traveled to many countries and took a lot of photos, and published online, and won some awards.
About my photography— It has a Xi'an theme.
Xi'an is my hometown, where I was born and grew up. I love my home city and I took a lot of pictures there during the past 20 years. Xi'an is an ancient city, which has more than 3,000 years of civilization history. Xi'an was once the capital of China and the political, economic, and cultural center. There were 13 dynasties built here, and it is also the starting point of the Silk Road.
My Xi'an theme photos partly reflect the cultural environment and people's livelihood in contemporary Xi'an. I hope to show and introduce my photos to my colleagues and friends. I hope that you will have the opportunity to visit Xi'an.
