Youth Programs
WMWP runs at least two events for youth writers each year: the Summer Youth Writing Program and Youth Writing Adventure. The Springfield Armory Summer Program is also offered some years.
- Summer Youth Writing Program gives students in grades 3-12 an opportunity to spend a week on campus writing, learning, and visiting campus venues. This gradually expanding program is tuition-based but offers scholarships to low-income students.
- Youth Writing Adventure allows students from multiple local schools come together to attend writing workshops of their choice. Workshops are thoughtful and engaging, ranging in topic from memory to art to injustice and so much more. Youth Writing Adventure is a free program intended to support and encourage young writers.
- Springfield Armory Summer Program provides Springfield youths with hands-on history-based projects through the use of writing and experiential learning.
