Karen Diaz, who has worked for years to encourage teacher leadership through her many roles within WMWP, is the recipient of this year's Patricia Hunter Award. Diaz, who is a teacher in West Springfield, received the award and recognition at the Best Practices conference luncheon. The Western Massachusetts Writing Project's Best Practices in the Teaching of Writing annual conference is coming up on Saturday, October 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the campus of UMass Amherst. The theme is ReWriting the Script: How to Make Change in Classrooms, Schools and Communities.
