Come Write Out at the Springfield Armory for the October 20th National Day on Writing
The Springfield Armory and WMWP are co-hosting a free Writing Marathon for teachers inside its museum for the National Day on Writing on Sunday, October 20, from 1-3 p.m. The event is part of the national Write Out initiative, which is part of a larger collaboration between the National Writing Project and the National Park Service. Write Out is a two-week series of activities and ideas around place-based learning, with the hope of connecting more educators and their students to public spaces -- including, but not limited to, national park sites. (Learn more about Write Out here)
The WMWP/Springfield Armory Writing Marathon will feature a tour of the Armory, located on the campus of Springfield Technology Community College off Federal Street in Springfield, and a series of writing activities. There will also be a Button Making Activity! The Springfield Armory is also offering small stipends for participating educators who sign up for the Writing Marathon event. The size of the stipends will depend on the number of participants.
