WMUA 91.1 FM Fundraising Initiatives
As a non-profit student radio station, WMUA uses various fundraising initiatives throughout the
academic year in order to continue to bring our listeners top quality programming. Our main
sources of fundraising comes through underwriting, which are tax-deductible
donations by local businesses. These donations are in exchange for spreading that businesses
message during WMUA programming.
The WMUA Store is also one of the stations most consistent forms of fundraising.
The store offers many different forms of station merchandise, such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats,
quarter-zips and polo shirts. The merchandise is shipped nationwide and the station receives
money back on every purchase made.
Every academic year, WMUA hosts annual promotion and fundraising weeks for each of their
departments. Music, Sports, and News each host an annual weeklong promotion which includes
interviews with WMUA alumni, countless social media promotion and typically the premier
event of the year for that department. For sports, this is the road trip to a UMass football game
and for music, it is a concert.
