The UMass Wind Energy Club (UWEC) is for UMass students interested in the wind energy field. The club is advised by graduate students researching wind energy at UMass.
The club has general meetings every two weeks. General body meeting activities include speakers, lab tours, and other hands-on learning experiences. Smaller groups for more involved activities, such as competitions, meet separately at other times. It also has outreach activities aimed to increase the public’s awareness of wind energy and encourage high school students and undergraduates to pursue careers in renewable energy. Leadership roles are available to undergraduate students looking to gain leadership experience.
This club aims to:
- Increase students’ knowledge of the wind energy industry.
- Strengthen and build the presence of the Wind Energy Center on campus
- Conduct small scale projects related to past and present research projects at UMass Amherst
- Represent UMass Amherst at wind energy related competitions nationally and internationally
If you are interested in joining or would like additional information, please email Leo Narbonne at lnarbonne@umass.edu.
