Wind Energy Center

The University of Massachusetts Wind Energy Center is the nation's preeminent wind energy program. For almost 50 years, our center has been conducting research, education and training in wind energy. We have graduated hundreds of alumni who work in wind energy and have helped to create the U.S. wind energy industry.

Our faculty understand that in order for offshore wind development to be most adventageous to the U.S., innovation is necessary to develop a domestic industry, and big-picture thinking is needed to maximize benefits to all. Our research approach is comprehensive - we bring together researchers who understand the technical challenges, environmental implications, socioeconomic impacts and regulatory hurdles of offshore wind development.

Our world renowned educational program includes undergraduate and graduate classes, on campus and online, and an interdisciplinary PhD program. We also wrote the leading textbook, Wind Energy Explained.
