Research in wind turbine aerodynamics at the Wind Energy Center spans blade element-momentum theory (BEM) modeling, potential flow analysis, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code development. The applications of the research include floating offshore wind turbines, and actively controlled smart rotors. Our faculty have expertise with aero-elastic design codes, and the aerodynamic models in these codes.
