Karen Lederer  (officially retired as of 12/31/20).   For spring, please email wgss-advisor@umass.edu for advising.  

Karen Lederer has been an undergraduate advisor in the department since 1986. She works with majors and minors, writes the newsletter, is the undergraduate field work coordinator, teaches WGSS 295C Career and Life Choices. In addition she works on events, serves on committees, comes to classes with a basket of department materials and more. Karen has background in the labor, peace, AIDS and feminist movements. Her other interests are wide ranging from art to quilts to the intergenerational legacy of the holocaust. Karen is an alum of the University, a STPEC (Social Thought and Political Economy) major and Women's Studies minor (it was Women's Studies then!).

Linda has been on the staff since 1993. She is responsible for office management, production of publications, the website, databases, budgetary responsibilities, scheduling of classes, and supervisor of student employees.  She is the hiring manager and the administrative support for the Graduate Certificate Program. Through her many years at UMass, Linda was active with the clerical and technical staff union on campus, the University Staff Association as a Vice President, Steward and Communications Coordinator and currently serves as the sick bank coordinator. She has worked on campus with workplace bullying initiatives, and various social justice intiatives on campus in her 26+ years.  Linda's newest title is grammie (meemee) to an adorable kid named Henry.
