Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies faculty areas of research and teaching include: Body Politics; Critical Race Studies; Sexuality Studies; Disability Studies; Queer Studies; Sustainability; Black Feminist Thought; Feminism, Comedy and Humor; Feminist Science Studies; Labor Studies; History; Expressive Culture; Critical Prison Studies; Asian and Asian American Feminisms; Latin American Studies; South Asian Studies; Reproductive Politics and Political Economy; Social Justice Feminisms; Social Movements; Transgender Studies; Migration Studies; Transnational, Decolonial, and Post-Colonial Feminisms.
There is a robust network of Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies scholars, students and activists at and around UMass Amherst. In addition to our accomplished faculty, students have the opportunity to work with feminist scholars at each of the Five Colleges in many departments and disciplines.
We work to inspire our students. In turn, they inspire us with their ability to explore established schools of thought and form wholly new approaches. These students move on to a myriad of careers, shaping new realities in the world around them by applying the passion and critical thinking skills they garner at UMass Amherst.
