Food Waste at UMass

The Office of Waste Management uses Vanguard Renewables. The Vanguard Mission states:

We believe that organic waste is an unrealized resource. At Vanguard Renewables, we regenerate waste to its highest and best available use. About Vanguard Renewables

In 2019 UMass Amherst shipped approximately 1,600 tons per year (3 million lbs) of food waste and other compostable material for on-farm composting.
