The Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences is pleased to announce that Nidhi Jadon has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Snoeyenbos Award.
The Snoeyenbos Award for Excellence in Graduate Research was established in 1994 in honor of Professor Glenn Snoeyenbos who had been a member of the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. The Snoeyenbos Award is awarded annually to honor a current outstanding graduate student based upon the student's grade point average, research progress, presentations at meetings and faculty recommendations.
Nidhi Jadon completed her Bachelor's degree in Technology (B.Tech) from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, India, in 2019. In the fall of 2019, she joined the ABBS program. Nidhi started working in Dr. Lisa Minter's Lab in the summer of 2020, where she initiated two significant research projects. The first project investigated the role of Protein Kinase C-Theta (PKCq) and Tripartite motif-containing protein 21 (TRIM21) in the activation of naive CD4 T cells. Following the preliminary findings from this project, Nidhi embarked on another study focusing on the epigenetic changes regulated by PRMT5 in Th1-like iTregs and their potential therapeutic application in aplastic anemia, an autoimmune disorder. This study was eventually published in Jan 2024 in Frontiers in Immunology. Concurrently, Nidhi was also involved in two grant projects - one aimed at delivering therapeutic cells in humanized mouse models of aplastic anemia, and the other focused on generating immunomodulated iTregs for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome.
