Colt Foster, graduate student in the Cui Lab has been selected as a CNS Teaching Fellow for Fall 2025.
Teaching Fellows serve as instructors of record in First Year Seminars, the small classes (approximately 19 students) that our first-semester undergraduate students take. In preparation for this experience, Teaching Fellows get 3.5 days of intensive training to prepare them to be instructors of record, covering topics such as backwards syllabus design, inclusive teaching strategies, and many others. In addition, the Teaching Fellows learn about various campus resources that will be valuable for their students to know more about.
This is the 10th year of the CNS Teaching Fellows program and it has been a very positive experience for the instructors. You can see details of the program, including some comments from previous Teaching Fellows, here: https://websites.umass.edu/applyteachfellows/
