The Veterinary and Animal Sciences Department is proud to announce that Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University has offered early acceptance to three Veterinary and Animal Sciences Department sophomore students: Sydney Goulding, Griffin Lewis, and Emily Schiller.

Peer Advisors are ready to meet with students

On January 8, 2026, UMass Chancellor Javier Reyes and Dean of the College of Natural Sciences Michael Fox visited Professor Kathleen Arcaro’s lab in the Life Sciences Laboratory to learn more about the lab’s groundbreaking research using human milk as a non-invasive window into individualized breast health.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst has renamed its center for professional development and experiential learning in Newton, Massachusetts the “Charles River Campus of UMass Amherst.” The name change took effect as of January 2026. 

Amy Rubin, Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Veterinary Technology Program, and Amanda Golembeski, Certified Veterinary Technology Lab Instructor, are leading a transformative initiative in veterinary education at UMass Amherst and Mt. Ida campuses. Funded by the Flexible Education Division , and in collaboration with IDEAS and Xenniel, they’ve developed and implemented a virtual reality (VR) training tool that helps Veterinary Technician students build essential clinical skills in safe, immersive environments.
