The Center for Dairy Excellence has named Sara Stoltzfus, a rising senior at The University of Massachusetts Amherst, as the 2026 education and communications intern.
Congratulations to Dr. Nuno Carreiro who received a College of Natural Sciences Internal Achievement Award on May 4 for the exceptional service he provides to the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. In addition to teaching core courses for the Department, Dr. Carreiro is the Faculty Advisor for NESA and the Leader of the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences recruiting efforts, which includes giving frequent tours, coordinating outreach programs, and serving on hiring committees for professional advising staff members.
Alice Newth has been a reliable and caring presence at the UMass Equine and Livestock Research and Education Farm in Hadley for more than 40 years. Now, with her pending retirement, the barns and fields that serve as the hands-on instruction sites of UMass Amherst’s livestock and animal science programs will seem empty without her ubiquitous presence. The Veterinary and Animal Sciences Department is proud to announce that Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University has offered early acceptance to three Veterinary and Animal Sciences Department sophomore students: Sydney Goulding, Griffin Lewis, and Emily Schiller.
Thanks to a generous donation from Donna and John O'Connell, the UMass Charles River Campus Veterinary Technology Radiology Suite received a much-needed upgrade. The new Digital Radiography system has been a wonderful addition to our students’ education.
