ANIML SCI 455V - Lab Animal Medicine and Management I

This course, and concurrent registration in the associated lab course, ANIMLSCI 455VL, provides basic instruction in laboratory animal anatomy and physiology, restraint and handling, nutrition and management ? with emphasis on the laboratory rat, mouse, hamster, rabbit and gerbil. Lectures include material on principles of disease, research use and therapeutic techniques and well as regulations applicable to research facility operation. This course may also be of interest to students who plan to specialize in pocket pets, wildlife or exotics as the rodent skills apply across all of those fields.
