Sofia Thomas
Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Arcaro Lab
Sofia is a senior Pre-Veterinary Science major at UMass Amherst. She joined the Arcaro lab in the 2024 spring semester. She is working on the team project that studies the Effects of Chronic Inflammation on ELF5 DNA Methylation in 76N-Tert cells. After graduation, Sofia will be working in a small animal hospital before she pursues veterinary school in 2026. During her time at UMass Amherst, she has spent time at the Hadley Farm with sheep and goats, helping students in the Animal Science Anatomy and Physiology labs as a teaching assistant, and working as a waitress at a local restaurant in western Massachusetts. Sofia loves to spend time with family, friends, and her cat Ivy. She enjoys the beach, reading, and shopping as well.
