Oguz received his bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and genetics from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey and his master’s degree in molecular biology from University of Goettingen, Germany. Currently he is a PhD student in the Fissore and Stratton labs at UMass Amherst where he is studying the function of Calcium/Calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) in mouse eggs and preimplantation embryos. Oguz uses both biochemical and cell biology techniques to elucidate the functional heterogeneity in CaMKII variants and study how CaMKII functions as a “memory molecule”.
