Emma Gotschlich
Emma Gotschlich is a 2024 graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Philosophy. Emma is pursuing her master’s degree in Animal Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences, studying under Drs. Sallie Schneider and Kathleen Arcaro. While earning her undergraduate degree, Emma also served as President of both the Biological Science Student Association, and the flagship chapter of Protect Our Breasts.
Following science and exploring how it connects to benefit people is Emma’s core passion, and she is applying this passion to advance women’s health.
Emma is investigating the role of inflammatory factors and genetic susceptibility alleles on breast cancer epithelial tight junction permeability. She is developing the transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) system in Dr. Schneider’s laboratory while working with Dr. Arcaro on the Breast Feeding CHAMPS (Child Health and Mammary Permeability) study.
