Anna Postnikova
Graduate Student - MCB
Anna graduated with her B.S. from Westfield State University in 2022 with a major in biology and a minor in biochemistry. She then worked as a research assistant in Dr. Katerina Ragkousi’s developmental biology lab at Amherst College from 2022 - 2025. Her work in the Ragkousi lab focused on the role of cell adhesion molecules during early embryonic development of the starlet sea anemone, Nematostella vectensis. In 2025, Anna received an Honorable Mention for her application for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program based on her work in the Ragkousi Lab. Anna is broadly interested in the molecular mechanisms underlying embryonic development, including early cell fate decisions and overall cell-cell interactions that allow development to proceed. She is also passionate about science communication and outreach. Outside of the lab, Anna enjoys reading, ice skating, and spending time with her cats, Maggie and Winston.
