Foundations of Data Science (FULL)

This course offers the opportunity to do project-based learning in the emerging field of data science. The course starts with case studies in public health, racial bias in jury selection, and text analysis of literature. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in python programming including functional programming, and handling and visualizing large data sets. A large portion of the class is focused on group projects where you will work on a diverse team from around the world to address complex problems in society with data. Example projects include: COVID-19 prediction modeling, COVID-19 testing, financial crisis of 2008.

Schedule: Live, synchronous sessions will meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:00 - 11:00am, and Tuesday, Thursday 10:00 - 11:00am (EDT). Plus additional asynchronous work as assigned.
