Drawing & Portfolio Preparation

Embark on an enriching artistic journey tailored for high school students aspiring to deepen their understanding of drawing, design principles, and portfolio preparation. This course unfolds as a comprehensive exploration, offering a holistic grasp of artistic techniques. Engaging in dynamic hands-on activities, students will delve into a multifaceted exploration of diverse mediums, including pencil, charcoal, ink, and digital tools. This immersive experience not only aims to enhance artistic skills but also encourages students to experiment authentically and discover their unique artistic voice. The course seeks to equip students with foundational skills, striking a balance between practical application and theoretical understanding, forming the bedrock of a well-rounded artistic education. The course will conclude with a guided preparation of a portfolio.

Students will:

This course is offered at the UMass Amherst campus as a residential program. Local students may apply to attend as a commuter.
