Sport Management & Leadership Academy

The Sport Management & Leadership Academy provides a platform for talented high school students to learn practical sport business applications and industry insights from our world renowned faculty and industry-leading alumni.

The program is hosted by the Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management, currently the #1-ranked program in the world, and the second oldest such program in the United States (2025 marked its 55th anniversary). The Department is housed in a business school – the Isenberg School of Management – and boasts over 4,000 alumni working in the commercial sports industry, from segments such as college athletics, media/journalism, coaching & player development, sales, sponsorship, marketing, agency representation, venue and event management, and more.

The Sport Management & Leadership Academy gives students a sneak peek into a variety of important industry segments and access to our full-time faculty members, to accomplish the following strategic learning objectives:

  1. Facilitate student comprehension of the sport management industry at large: at the end of the program, students will be able to identify key industry segments, stakeholders, careers, and management themes
  2. Educate students on what functional skills are important to pursuing careers in sport management, and how they can best prepare themselves to acquire and develop such skills
  3. Empower students to be well-rounded, critical thinkers! Students will analyze, communicate and present insights specific to the sport management industry, to help clarify what pathways may best support their college and career success.
