Pre-College Bundle
Get the most out of your summer, prepare for college, and boost your resume with the Pre-College Bundle
The Pre-College Bundle lets students maximize their time at UMass Amherst by stacking two of our pre-college offerings – an Academic Program and a College Prep Workshop – plus participating in unique co-curriculars designed to take them beyond the classroom.
Residential students will join the Volunteering Track, which includes additional afternoon sessions on community engagement and service learning, and a weekend volunteering activity at a local non-profit organization in the Amherst area.
Online students will join the Internship Track, which includes additional live online sessions on how to research and apply for internships in their local communities.
All students who register for the Pre-College Bundle will automatically receive a discount of $150 towards program fees.

All online workshops meet live with synchronous instruction Tues/Thurs 4:30 - 6pm (EST) and are meant to be taken concurrently with the chosen Academic Program. Students attending residential programs should plan to bring a laptop to campus in order to attend the online workshops.
The residential workshop meets in person Monday - Friday 9am - 4pm and allows students to stay on campus for an additional week.
How to Register for the Pre-College Bundle:
- Fill out an application for any of the Academic Programs listed above at our Apply Now page. The turnaround time for acceptance to Academic Programs 1 - 2 weeks.
- Following acceptance, you will receive instructions via email to register for the Academic Program. The Pre-College Bundle option can be added during registration.
- Select Pre-College Bundle option when filling out the registration form, then choose a College Prep Workshop from the drop-down menu.
Volunteering Track (in person)
Food Justice in the City: A Service-Learning Experience
In this mini-course students will learn about what it means to participate ethically in community service by examining food related issues in Western MA. We will explore how policy and power inform different communities’ access to food and food insecurity. Students will be asked to think about their own personal and social identities and how those identities connect to their access to food. Topics will include: Food Policy & Justice, Urban Agriculture, Inequality & Oppression, Identity, and Critical Service-Learning. Students will participate in a day trip to a local urban farm to garden with and learn from local community members about food justice in their city.
Internship Track (online)
Prepare for your future! Get a jump start on your major and career exploration process by learning about internship and job shadow opportunities. In our virtual community, we will engage in fun activities together and talk with one another. You will have the chance to learn about yourself and what really matters to you. We will discuss what an internship opportunity is all about and why it is a good way to explore your interests. You will identify interesting opportunities and make a plan to successfully apply for those opportunities. Finally, we will discuss how building your support network can help you achieve your goals.
