UWW Student Wins Field Scholar Award

Forty-two-year-old UWW student Joshua Boose has been named a 2021 William F. Field Alumni Scholar. An Emmy Award–winning broadcast journalist, he has decades of experience in radio and TV, including as news anchor for local news stations affiliated with ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox. He has won seven AP awards and was named one of Out Magazine's 100 Most Influential People. He has interviewed some of the world's most influential leaders, including Hillary Clinton and Benjamin Netanyahu.

Majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Journalism in the Digital Age, Josh has a 3.82 GPA and received 30 credits for his prior learning portfoliothe maximum number allowed. His primary faculty reviewer called it one of the best portfolios she has ever read.

Josh lives with his spouse, Michael, in suburban Cleveland, Ohio.

The William F. Field Alumni Scholar Awards were established in 1976 to recognize and honor third-year students for their academic achievements at UMass Amherst. The program was named in honor of William F. Field, the university’s first Dean of Students, for his outstanding support of academic excellence and his personal commitment to bringing out the best in every student.
