UWW 304 Introduction to Counseling
"This course will introduce students to many of the core concepts of counseling, and by association psychotherapy. To do so, we will explore many of the basic 'helping' skills associated with empathic responsive listening, theoretical principles, and the integration of theory and practice. This course will also emphasize the importance of cultural humility when practicing with diverse client populations."
UWW 397P Introduction to Deaf Studies
"This course will provide an overview of the history, language, culture, societal contributions, diverse experiences of, and controversies within the Deaf community, and will provide students with knowledge and skills essential for working with people who are Deaf and hard of hearing. Topics will include modes of communication, educational philosophies, socioeconomic issues, technologies used, myths about, and systemic discrimination faced by Deaf and hard of hearing people."
ENGLISH 385 Creative Writing: Nonfiction
"This course will involve both reading and writing in the genre of creative nonfiction, which may include personal essays, lyrical essays, environmental literature, literary journalism, travel writing, and memoir."
