Congratulations, UWW Class of 2020!

I’m delighted to have this opportunity to recognize and congratulate you. Unfortunately, we cannot gather in person to celebrate this wonderful milestone but you certainly deserve the excitement and applause of graduation day!  We are facing unprecedented challenges that have pushed everyone in unexpected directions.

Despite the uncertainties of the future, I hope you and your loved ones can take a moment to celebrate all that you have achieved. Your degree stands as an enduring symbol of your dedication, intellectual curiosity and creativity, and your resilience. You have had the opportunity to connect with the UWW faculty and advisors as well as people from many other departments across the UMass campus. Through your participation and engagement with faculty, students and staff, you have enhanced the life of the university while achieving your own personal and professional goals.

As graduates of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, you join a vibrant community of individuals who have used their talents, knowledge, and skills to make meaningful contributions to their families and communities, to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and to the world in which we all live.

Graduates, I wish you peace, health, and happiness. I hope you will stay in touch.  And I look forward to the day when we can gather to celebrate the UWW class of 2020!
