Each and every day you nurture the spirits of young children and transform lives through Montessori education. As far as we're concerned, you have one of the most important jobs on earth. And we want to help you earn your bachelor's degree.
We know how hard it can be for Montessori teachers like you to balance work, evening lesson planning, caring for your own families, and getting to a bricks and mortar campus. That's why, in conjunction with the American Montessori Society, we're offering you the opportunity to complete your degree 100% online.
design your own degree
Your education should be a reflection of who you are, where you've been and where you're heading. UMass UWW gives you the freedom to design an individualized education-related program of study- called a concentration- that meets YOUR educational and professional goals.
curriculum designed for montessori teachers like you
Our curriculum was specially built for Montessori teachers like you. You will study with distinguished instructors at the UMass College of Education, School of Public Health and Health Sciences, Departments of Psychology and Sociology, the Isenberg School of Management and other related departments. Course topics include: multi-cultural education, early childhood curriculum, reading, math and science methods, inclusion, and children's behavior and behavior management.
credit where credit is due
As a Montessori teacher, you have the opportunity to earn valuable credit towards your degree for the Montessori trainings and other educational trainings you have completed. You are guaranteed 24 transfer credits for the AMS Early Childhood Credential and/or 19 transfer credits for the AMS Infant Toddler Teacher Credential (up to the 75 transfer credit limit). Have other Montessori trainings? They can also be evaluated for conversion to academic credit.
In addition, we also offer you the opportunity to earn up to 30 residency credits by writing a prior learning portfolio- a series of essays reflecting on your life and work experience.
