Begin Your UMass Experience Early with Jump In

Students on campus

Start Strong Before Fall Begins

Jump In is UMass Amherst’s summer bridge program for incoming first-year students starting in Fall 2026. Over six weeks in the summer, you’ll complete coursework online, build the skills needed for college success, and arrive on campus early with a group of students who are starting their UMass journey alongside you.

Jump In helps you begin college feeling prepared, supported, and connected.

How the Program Works

Jump In takes place online during the second six-week Summer Session at UMass Amherst, running Monday, July 6 through Friday, August 14, 2026.

During the program, you will:

  • Take a 3–4 credit online course that counts toward graduation, either a Gen Ed requirement or a course connected to your major
  • Complete a 1-credit College Success Seminar designed to support your transition to college
  • Arrive on campus early and spend time with your Jump In cohort before fall begins

This structure allows you to earn credit, develop confidence, and get comfortable with campus before the semester starts.

Why Students Choose Jump In

Jump In helps you start college with momentum and confidence.

With Jump In, you can:
