John Simbajon, Class of 2021

"I was completely lost on my future until September 11, 2001 happened... Then my career in the Army started, then Army Guard, and currently Air Force Reserves, retiring June 2023, after almost 23 years of service. Throughout this process, I accumulated hundreds of college credits but no degree to call my own. UWW helped me efficiently attain my baccalaureate degree by accepting the maximum 75 credits allowed, earning 15 credits through my prior learning portfolio, and finishing various credits needed for my degree."

"I came here to the US when I was 13 and I did not speak any English. I started taking courses 34 years ago when I was pregnant with my son, but I never finished... I always wanted to complete my undergraduate degree... I am so happy and thrilled that UWW was there for me and I was able, because of this unique program, to merge all my previous credits and my previous knowledge and turn it all into an interdisciplinary studies degree... I am so grateful to all the UWW professors who guided me and supported me!"

Mark Randall, Class of 2021

"After separating from the military as a police officer with an honorable discharge, to get back into school was overwhelming and scary... a friend of mine and former military friend pointed me to UWW because “they are there for you". I was skeptical at first but was definitely led on the right track to succeed from the start... I would without equivocation recommend UWW to all students of all ages, traditional and non-traditional."

Jakob Gokey, University Without Walls (2023) and Master of Public Policy, School of Public Policy (2024)

"I graduated high school in 2020. The pandemic and my service obligations as a member of the Massachusetts National Guard made it difficult for me to attend college in the traditional way.... through UWW, I was able to maintain full-time enrollment in asychronous classes throughout my deployment to Afghanistan."
