This course will help students better understand uncertainty and bias in decision making at personal, societal, and algorithmic levels along with their contribution to social oppression in the physical and digital world. We will cover topics in evolutionary and developmental psychology, probabilistic thinking, bias and the fallacies that distort decision making, information theories, algorithmic bias and oppression, and the effects of artificial intelligence on the reinforcement of oppression.
