Special Topics- Summer Institute on Large Landscape Conservation

NRC 597LC

The Summer Institute on Large Landscape Conservation is designed for students and young professionals to learn more about the theory and practice of large land conservation in the early twenty-first century. The program is staffed by experts in the field of land conservation from the ALPINE (Academics for Land Protection in New England) network. Examples of such land protection projects include, but are not limited to: efforts by a Regional Conservation Partnership, such as the North Quabbin Regional Landscape Partnership, to undertake a large landscape initiative; efforts by a university to protect in perpetuity land which it owns and manages; and efforts by units of government to achieve land protection objectives within their jurisdictions. The Summer Institute also provides an opportunity for students and young professionals to meet and network with leaders in the field, and think about what role they might play in the future of conservation.
