Charles Derby, a UMass alumnus who has been collecting African art since the 1970s, has generously agreed to give the UWN members and guests a private tour of his collection at the University Museum of Contemporary Art (UMCA) here on campus. A onetime art teacher and store owner, Charles has an impressive collection of African and Native American art. He studied art in part at UMass Amherst and later taught art at the former Clarke School for the Deaf. .
