Angela F. F. Davis, '87

Assistant Undersecretary for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, Commonwealth of MA

Angela Davis has served in leadership roles in higher education, government, and the political landscape of Massachusetts.  Appointed by Governor Baker, she currently serves as the Assistant Undersecretary for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.  Prior to that she served as the Executive Director of Grants and Research for the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, overseeing millions in federal and state dollars. Her work includes initiatives combating gang violence, countering violent extremism, violence against women, the opioid crisis, human trafficking, and leading initiatives on criminal justice reform.  She serves on the Board of Directors of the Hockomock YMCA and UWiL. Angela was appointed as a board member to the UMASS Building Authority in September 2022. She is a frequent guest speaker and has served as a leadership coach for emerging leaders at MIT, BU and Wellesley College.  

Asked by U.S. Senator Scott Brown and Governor Charlie Baker to lead their women's initiatives and help them to victory, she has also served as a strategist and advisor to many successful campaigns.  She holds an MBA from Suffolk University where she was President of the MBA Association, and was crowned the 1983-84 UMASS Amherst homecoming queen before receiving her degree in 1987.
