Helping Bring Impactful Projects to UMass

By helping the university secure grants, we help our faculty do important, meaningful work in their fields right here on campus. The Center for Braiding Indigenous Knowledges and Science (CBIKS) is a perfect example.

Emergency Communications

News and Media Relations plays a lead role in emergency communications, working closely with the UMass Police Department, the Office of Emergency Management, and other campus departments.

The Emergency Notification System is designed to swiftly disseminate emergency information about an incident or situation related to public health, safety, or security, and to provide instructions to the campus community. Notifications are made by way of UMass Alerts text messages, broadcast email, posts to the university home page, outdoor warning sirens, social media, an emergency-closing telephone hotline, and the emergency-closing-status web page.

In my role as Director of the UMass Amherst Poll, I have had the pleasure of working closely with the team at News and Media Relations.... Without the team’s professionalism, diligence, attention to detail, and unwavering dedication to our university and the mission of public education, I can confidently say that the UMass Poll would not have received the outstanding coverage of our results from prominent state and national media outlets.
