The Office of News and Media Relations promotes the university's achievements and distinctions to the news media, the campus community, alumni, parents, government officials, and the general public. Tell us your story, be it about a research finding, a significant grant, a notable event, a professional accomplishment, an innovative teaching program, or community outreach. We’ll share it with others through news releases, tip sheets, media advisories, press conferences, web postings, social media, opinion pieces, photo slideshows, live-shot TV interviews, and news and marketing videos.
Calling us and making a personal connection often yields the best results. Tell the receptionist your topic and we’ll connect you with our reporter who handles that area. Submit background information to umassnews@admin.umass.edu.

The Office of News and Media Relations also manages the campus online Events Calendar, a centralized listing of all UMass Amherst events that helps give your events the maximum visibility.

News and Media Relations also coordinates all emergency communications made in response to severe weather or threats to public health or safety, takes part in campus emergency drills, and helps evaluate responses.
