We're glad you're here!
There is a lot to learn as a new marketing and communications professional at UMass Amherst. A member of the Marcom team would be happy to meet to guide you or talk through ideas to help set you and your unit up for success. This page includes information and resources that will be helpful in your new position. If you have any questions or need additional information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Where to Start
If you’re in a leadership role, please join the Marketing and Communications Council to engage with your marketing peers across campus. Contact Elizabeth Arpide for more information.
There are several ways that you as a communicator can leverage the great work your school, college, or unit is doing. Whether that be through UMass-owned media channels, a homepage story, a magazine feature, or a campus event, there are different avenues that you can use to tell your school, college, or unit’s UMass story. Please review the list below for some options on where to start.
- Inside UMass is the university’s weekly digital newsletter for faculty and staff that shares the latest from across campus. Submit a story.
- Social media is unique among communications channels because it provides an opportunity for storytelling and gives your audience an easy and instant means of engagement. Our goal is to position UMass Amherst as the university of choice by increasing awareness of its positive reputation, sharing diverse perspectives and campus news, and supporting its overall strategic goals. View the social media directory. If you’d like to start a channel or be added to the directory, fill out this form.
- UMass Magazine is published two times a year—in the fall and spring. The magazine has a readership beyond the current UMass community, so publishing your story here means sharing it with the world. Submit your story idea to the magazine.
- The university’s Event Calendar highlights events that are open to the entire campus community. Submit your department’s all-campus event.
- A content calendar created by Marcom, in collaboration with different units across campus, highlights unified campus themes, department activities, and more. View the calendar.
