Using multimedia news gathering skills, exercising sound editorial judgment and working independently, the Associate News Editor develops and disseminates information highlighting the achievements of the campus, its faculty and community to local, regional, national and global news media.
The Executive Director of Digital Strategy and Engagement serves as the university’s senior leader responsible for shaping and executing an integrated digital experience and engagement strategy that advances institutional priorities, strengthens brand reputation, and deepens relationships with key audiences across the student, faculty, staff, alumni, and partner lifecycle.
This role leads a cross-functional digital team spanning web experience, CRM/marketing automation, analytics, and user experience (UX/UI). The Executive Director ensures that the university’s digital ecosystem—its websites, mobile platforms, and digital communications—delivers a seamless, accessible, and personalized experience grounded in data and design thinking. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Executive Director is a member of the MarCom leadership team and a key collaborator with IT, Enrollment, Advancement, and Academic Affairs.
The Project Manager manages the workflow of MarCom projects in support of campus-wide marketing communications goals. Partnering with several areas of responsibility throughout the Department and the University, this position manages workflow, project scheduling, delivery, and implementation on a per-project basis, maintaining the project management system and facilitation of the project intake process by receiving new requests, completing setup and sharing project details for cross-functional team review.
The Director of Community Relations advances the campus’ community relations strategy by developing and implementing initiatives, events, and programs that strengthen relationships with local neighborhoods, civic groups, municipal departments, and residents. The Director plays a lead role in addressing and mitigating quality of life concerns and fostering positive, collaborative relationships between the campus and surrounding communities.
In this role, the Director advises the Associate Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for University Relations, the Chancellor and other members of the campus leadership on community relations matters and serves as a primary liaison to public officials and community representatives.
The Social Media Writer/Strategist plays a lead role and exercises sound judgement in crafting content for the institution’s organic social media content that ladders up to the goals and content strategy for the institution. As social media writer, this position exercises sound editorial judgement in crafting thoughtful, well-researched content that elevates the reputation of UMass Amherst. Reporting to the Executive Director of Digital Communications, this role plays an essential part in amplifying the university’s triumphs, ventures and pivotal role in shaping lives on a national and international scale. It also provides perspective on student and faculty life at the University and supports and kindles student, faculty and alumni engagement.
The position requires excellent research and writing skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of audiences, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, public officials, alumni and donors. The Social Media Writer/Strategist must be able to work independently and as a team member, exercising sound judgment under deadline conditions. The job requires being available outside of normal business hours as needed, and participating in an on-call rotation on nights, weekends and holidays to monitor and post timely social media and web content.
