Rachael works under University Relations as the director for strategic communications, reporting to Sam Masinter.

Previous to her work at UMass Amherst, Rachael worked at Smith College managing social media strategy and content. Over her communications career at Smith, Amherst College, Williston Northampton, and Northfield Mount Hermon, she created multiple award-winning campaigns, served on crisis communications teams and national social media boards, and provided research and counsel to senior leaders on emerging issues.

Rachael also has a background in writing, authoring several feature stories and travel guides along with reporting for the Daily Hampshire Gazette and Watertown Times.

Fun Fact

Rachael was a competitive rower and, having grown up in Nicaragua, plays Roller Derby under the name "Slamdinista."
