Walking Escort Service

Walking teams of students with mobile radios are available for safe escort across campus every night from 7:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m. during the academic semester to members of the UMass Amherst community and campus visitors.  Call (413) 545-2123 to make arrangements for a safety escort.

Transportation

UMass Transit, (413) 545-0056, operates the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) campus shuttle and buses for the Five Colleges and the towns of Amherst, Belchertown, Deerfield, Granby, Hadley, Northampton, South Hadley, and Sunderland. The buses travel throughout UMass Amherst and to Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Smith College and other areas in Northampton, the local malls, and other parts of the Pioneer Valley.

  • Check the PVTA Schedules.
  • Hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. until 2:30 a.m. except during reduced scheduling.
  • During the academic year, buses are free to students and employees.
  • Be prepared to show a valid ID.
