Project Protect

Register your valuables with Project Protect. Every year laptops, iPods, cell phones, and other personal items are lost or stolen on campus. Project Protect greatly increases the chances of recovering your lost or stolen property.

  • Never leave your laptop, cell phone, or other valuable unattended when in a public area.
  • Lock your office or room when you are away, even if you leave for a moment.
  • Use a smartphone and laptop tracking application. Many of these apps are free and can assist you and law enforcement in locating your lost or stolen item.

Need Help Registering Your Valuables?

By request, UMPD Community Outreach staff will come to your location for a Project Protect registration event. We will bring laptops to assist you in registering your items. These registration events may be arranged, for example, for students at their residence halls, or at laboratories where staff wish to register lab computers. Contact Officer Kellogg or use our Request a Training Form.
