Sex Offender Information
The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act requires colleges and universities to issue a statement advising the campus community about where they may obtain information concerning registered sex offenders. The act also requires certain registered sex offenders to provide notice to each institution of higher education in the state in which he or she is employed or enrolled as a student.
How to Inquire about Level 2 and 3 Offenders
Members of the UMass Amherst community may request information about sex offenders at the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board by following the link below. This Sex Offender website will have the most current information on all offenders in the Town of Amherst.

As a service to the community UMPD post Level 3 offenders (see below) as well as posting them in the UMPD Police Station Lobby at 585 East Pleasant Street, Amherst.
Penalties for Improper Use of Sex Offender Registry Information
Information contained in the Sex Offender Registry shall not be used to commit a crime against an offender or to engage in illegal discrimination or harassment of an offender. Any person who improperly uses Sex Offender Registry information shall be punished by not more than two and one-half years in the house of correction, or by a fine of not more than $1,000, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
