Know Your Rights is a lively and interactive discussion co-presented by the UMPD and the Student Legal Services Office (SLSO). Participants watch the short film “Busted” where you learn what to do and what not to do during police encounters. The film is followed by an always dynamic question and answer session with Attorney Corey Carvalho, Associate Director of SLSO, and Officer Mark Whelihan.
Here are just a few comments made by students about the Know Your Rights event:
- “It’s amazing that I didn’t know my rights!”
- “This was great. It was enjoyable and informative.”
- “Everyone should attend a presentation like this one!”
