UPDATE #1:
Thursday, March 28, 2019 - Two suspects in this case have been apprehended and are being arraigned in Belchertown District Court today. UMPD is still looking to identify a lone 3rd male suspect as shown the second posted below. This case remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL CRIME ALERT:
At 2:40pm today, Wednesday March 27, 2019 UMass Police responded to a report of a possible physical altercation on the 3rd floor of Dwight Hall. Multiple officers responded and were unable to locate any involved persons before they cleared the scene.
Later in the afternoon, a witness to the altercation contacted UMPD and provided additional details which led UMPD to a specific room in Dwight Hall. During the second response it was then discovered that two UMass students had been assaulted following an attempted drug transaction involving marijuana. It was further determined an initial altercation had taken place inside Dwight Hall, which then continued into the parking lot where a firearm was exhibited by two male suspects. The suspects fled the scene in a red vehicle, unknown make/model. Neither of the UMass students were in need of medical attention following the incident. The male suspects are known to one of the UMass students who is cooperating with police. UMPD is pursuing multiple leads, including surveillance video. UMPD is seeking community assistance in identifying the suspects and preventing further harm to the community. If you see these suspects or the vehicle do not approach, call UMPD immediately.
